Eleyin Plantation is one of the farmlands of Landmark University, Omu-Aran. It was established primarily for Jatrophacurcas plantation – a biofuel plant of great economic importance. Total land area is about 354 hectares and 96.5 hectares was cultivated in the first year of operation, i.e. 2014, this was increased to 116.5 hectares of land by 2015 planting season.
Planting of Jatrophacurcas began in March 2014 and a total of 34 hectares were planted.
However, inspite of lack of proper agronomic practices at the on-set, Landmark University Management supervised the 34-hectare Jatropha farm at Eleyin. Additional 20 Hectares of Jatrophafarm plot was established in 2015, making a total of 54 Hectares of Jatrophaplantation.
A total of 62.5 hectares of maize inter-planted with improved cassava was established at Eleyin.
Cassava were inter-planted with maize on a 62.5 hectares of land. The cassava planted in the year 2014 is due for harvest early February 2016.
